Canada gets 3G iPhone.

Watching twitlive.tv stream Steve Job’s keynote (a live stream of a live stream, technology is awesome), and amidst Disney’s Small World theme song, the iPhone is coming to Canada.

Finally? I think so. I mean I know people who’ve gotten their hands on unlocked iPhones, but it looks like Apple’s finally got it together in launching the 3G model in 60-some odd countries.

And at $199 USD for the base 8gb model – how can anyone resist?

I for one have been waiting to jump on an end all be all gadget that would rid me of carrying an mp3 and cell phone around. (Who has the pocket real estate these days?)

But the only thing that concerns me is the phone carrier that we in Canada are unfortunately stuck with.

Rogers.

If this article is any indication, a 500mb monthly data plan will cost you $80 a month.

This definitely has nothing to do with Apple, but as Mark Jackson would say, “Rogers, you’re better than that!” (2 Mark Jackson quotes in one day = awesome)

I would provide actual data plan info from Rogers directly, but their website seems to be horrendously slow. (Steve Jobs vudu? I think so)

With all this said, will I be jumping on the iPhone bandwagon? No. At least not at launch. I’m a bit curious on an iPhone clone out of China, call me an Apple bigot, but I don’t even use an iPod.

But as the days pass, my anti-Apple stance has wavered (I blame those awesome mac vs. pc commercials). So much so that I’m itching to jump on a macbook/pro at some point this summer, and a free iPod Touch promo with the purchase doesn’t hurt.

So I guess drinking the Steve Jobs kool-aid is inevitable. And it may have been refreshing, if it wasn’t from a Rogers glass.

PS. Rogers High Speed Internet bandwidth caps suck.

PSS. iPod Touch price drop soon?

(expect a more detailed/thought provoking post soon, for now head over to engadget for your iPhone needs)

**For those Canadians looking to get more information, go here. It seems that Fido will be an official carrier as well. But at any rate, Fido = Rogers.
