Thank you Oliver Miller (I’ll explain).
Around one or two months ago, I got into an email conversation/debate, about NBA player look-a-likes. Perhaps the most common is the San Antonio Spurs’ Fresh Prince. The next one down would probably be Utah’s own Mr. Demi Moore.
Thinking outside the box, and with the power of Google, I proposed a number of other look a likes - received with mixed reactions.
Let’s start off with Maceo Baston, who kicked push himself on the Raptor’s bench this past season. Maybe a reach? I guess admittedly so. But you can’t really blame me; I barely saw the dude play this season. (7 min per game, in the 15 games he saw time)
Next up is, the New York Knicks’ mini-fitty, Nate Robinson. Only fitty-ng given the New York Connection. I wonder if he has a G-Unit sneaker deal?
(I can’t believe I just made a 50 Cent, and G-Unit reference.)
Both comparisons are disputable, and in fact they were. The last pair I’m about to propose was initially met with the same dispute, but let’s just say, pictures tell the story.
The Boston Celtics starting center, Kendrick Perkins, and Sony’s God of War protagonist himself, Kratos. At the mention of this comparison, I was immediately met with disbelief. Anthony for one, made a ridiculous statement in saying that Perkins more resembles Oliver Miller.
Are you kidding me?!? (That was a Swirsky reference for the internets)
But I guess I should be thankful. So I spent a good deal on Google Images, finding undisputable support for my argument, which proved successful. So with Anthony pwned, I got off the subject. Months passed, we get on this blogging thing (late pass please?), and Perkins is getting good airtime in the NBA Finals.
Post material? I thought so.
The problem was I cleared my thunderbird inbox a number of times since the email conversation began. Logged into gmail, did an inbox search for the obvious terms “Kratos,” and “Perkins,” but couldn’t find the specific emails.
The other night, I’m not even sure how it happened (divine intervention), but Oliver Miller came up in a conversation - which brought flashes of that absurd comparison pictured above. What it also did, was give me another term to search my inbox with, “Oliver Miller.” Eureka!
So, I’d like to dedicate this post to Oliver Miller. Not only was he Mighty Mouse’s number one option, he is arguably the best offensive post presence the Raptors have ever had. And it is because of him I have the following pictures.
So “Big O,” this post goes out to you.
Sure Kevin Garnett has just signed on to become the cover athlete for 2kSports’ NBA 2K9. But Perkins has been at the gaming thing circa 2005.
I do wonder how Jesus feels about playing on the same team as the God of War?
